Toyota's PHEV technology has now evolved to its sixth generation. The newly updated RAV4 PHEV adopts silicon-carbide (SiC) semiconductors in the front axle, a next-generation high-capacity drive battery, and a DC fast-charging module. This enables a more compact and highly efficient powertrain, boosting pure-electric range to around 150km (WLTC cycle) and delivering a total driving range of up to 1,350km.
The next-generation (13th-generation) Corolla will be equipped with an all-new plug-in hybrid system that represents a comprehensive overhaul from the engine to the electric motor. Beyond improving standalone engine performance, the system is designed around close integration with the electric drive unit, allowing both the engine and motor to operate in the areas where they perform best.
Of course, we can also expect the Corolla to follow the all-new 2027 Highlander by launching a fully electric version with a 700-kilometer range, as Toyota’s electrification efforts are now accelerating across the board.
